The purpose of the TI Pop Previews column is to give insight and educate Funko Pop collectors on what is coming up in the market. My aim is not to influence the market but to help collectors navigate on what Funko Pops to buy and collect.
Here we go with my top 5 in no particular order.
The world is a better place with a swaggy looking Shawn Mendez pop. I love the accurate tats with the guitar picks. I certainly love how they paid attention to the guitar details too. If I was a teenage girl I would be asking my mom for extra allowance so I can bring Shawn Mendes home.
You can’t go wrong with classic 90’s Batman villain pops. I love them all and want to buy a set when they come out. My favorites are the metallic joker, Two-Face and Mr. Freeze. I’m digging how Jack Nicholas, Michelle Pfeiffer, Danny DeVito, Jim Carey, Tommy Lee Davis, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Uma Thurman are now immortalized in pop form as Bat villains. It would look nice to pair one of the pops with a comic of the same villain.
Patronus (Ron Weasley)
Theres a lot of Harry Potter pop fanatics out there and this is certainly one to get. It never came across my mind that this could be a pop. It’s sold out as a pre-release so you will have to get it on the secondary market.
Jiraiya On Toad
Naruto fans rejoice, we are finally getting a Jiraiya pop! He is the most beloved mentor to be on television in my opinion and been waiting a long time to have him get released. This is one I am getting for my personal collection. I am glad Funko went all out and put in the summoning toad with him too. I will be lining up at Hot Topic to buy at least 2 of these.
One Punch Man Pops
Funko getting their act together and releasing more One Punch Man. The Mumen Rider is my favorite of the batch. He’s so brave but so unwisely heroic. They should have added a little sweat running down his face and that would have made the pop perfect. Maybe we get a season 3 announcements soon that comes out with this new set. Here’s to hoping.
Anyways, hope you all enjoyed. We now move our attention to SDCC exclusives which we may not know if there will be a show. There’s still some months out so hopefully things get better with con season moving forward.
