Welcome back to the next installment of Catch A Wave: Transformers. We roll on with another wave for 1986. Yet another combiner set from the Autobot side. Let’s get into it.
Now for the Autobots to answer the Decepticons with another batch of combiners, let’s have a look at these emergency vehicles that join to form Defensor. The Protectobots are a team of emergency, rescue and law enforcement bots dedicated to the protection of mankind. Sure that doesn’t sound like the most exciting set up for a team of Transformers, but any combiner set was still pretty cool if you ask me.
The Protectobots attach directly to the team lead, Hot Spot, using the standard rectangular connectors. You know the smaller figure’s heads which pop into the team lead who serves as the body.
Like all US G1 combiners, Defensor requires a number of accessories to complete his combined robot form. This includes the fists, footpads, a hip guard, and a two chest shields. The fists and feet pop in as standard 5mm pegs. Check out the instructions below.
Defensor is one of the smaller combiners from G1; but he is also the only one to dual-wield weapons like he’s in a John Woo flick.
And with that, let’s move on to the figures…
Well that’s our next batch for 1986.
